Appellant

Appellant – this term has two different meanings:

– within the area of Court Trials “appellant” refers to the legal figure of a person appealing within the provided deadlines to a higher court against a decision just issued by a lower court, not in his favor. Against him sits a defendant, who is called “appellee”. And who seeks to persuade the appeals court to affirm the 1st instance court’s decision.

– within the sphere of Criminal Law, the 2nd meaning of “appellant” is “a snitch”.

Example: “The appellant has a two-week deadline to deposit the court fee for appealing the said decision at the High court”.
