Caution – This term has several meanings, depending of where it has got application:

1) Within the area of the Real estate Law, it could be considered as official notice given to the Land Registry by any person with an interest in particular real estate to ensure that no legal action is taken in respect of the real estate without the person’s knowledge.

2) Within the area of the Criminal Law, it usually refers to a warning, given by a Police Officer, towards a person charged with a criminal offence.
3) It could mean also a warning in the role of a measurement, issued by a Police Officer, instead of a heavier preservation or conviction (a ticket or charge). In practice this is done only in situations where small felonies or wrongdoings have been done (for example, a noisy party which led to phone claim by the neighbors).
