Guardian in socage – this legal term refers to the figure of an individual who is legally entitled by law or by an act of the local court to have custody over the assets of a child until the child reaches legal age, in a situation where the child has been gifted by a will or via inheritance. Per the provisions of the Family Law in most jurisdictions the parents have this role until their children reach the age of 18, which is the legal age for acting independently and managing your own affairs.
