Guardian of the person

Guardian of the person – this legal term refers to the figure of a person who is an adult, appointed by the local court to make valid and legal personal decision for the account of a minor child or for other incompetent adult (a ward). When it relates to certain legal matters only – for example, where the incompetent adult may be a participant in a lawsuit, the guardian is called “Guardian ad litem” (See “Guardian ad litem” – From Latin).
