Legalization of documents

Legalization of documents – this term details the procedure of authentication (or certification), done on a document, issued by official Authority, so then the document can be used abroad in another country. For example, documents signed and witnessed in the UK – letters of authorization, powers of attorney, various declarations, Grant of Probate, etc. – should receive apostil by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London ( http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/about-us/what-we-do/services-we-deliver/legal-services/Legalisation/ ) in order to be used then abroad in countries which recognize the apostile. This is the provision of the Hague Convention in 1961, signed by these countries.
