Legalization of documents

Legalization of documents – this term details the procedure of authentication (or certification), done on a document, issued by official Authority, so then the document can be used abroad in another country. For example, documents signed and witnessed in the UK – letters of authorization, powers of attorney, various declarations, Grant of Probate, etc. – should receive apostil by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London ( ) in order to be used then abroad in countries which recognize the apostile. This is the provision of the Hague Convention in 1961, signed by these countries.
