Offence – in most jurisdictions the term refers to violation of the local Law; a committed crime; i.e. any act which contravenes the provisions of the Criminal Law and leads to a criminal conviction and criminal punishment, recorded in the criminal record of a person. Called also “offense” in some legal systems. A synonym is “transgression”.
