Prison sentence

Prison sentence – this term is used in the area of Criminal Trials, where refers to the court sentence to put a person for concrete period in specific building with no possibilities to go out, and with restricted entrance by third parties, called jail, as a result of their proved conviction by the prosecution for the crime this person has performed. Depending of the applicable legal system, the prison sentence could be two types: consecutive sentence, in which the period in jail represents the sum of all sentences given); and concurrent sentence, in which the term for imprisonment is equal to the longest sentence given by court). A synonym is “prison term”.
