Putative father – this legal phrase is used mostly in the sphere of Family Law, where it details the figure of the alleged or presumed actual father of an illegitimate child. The putative father does not yet have established legal relations with the child but he claims to be the actual father. The goal is to get the personal care of the child and to enable the child to inherit him legally.
