Restatement – this term applies in the Common Law system in England and in the United States. There it refers to detailed legal interpretations by law lectors of theoretic points of law or particular legal issues. Although not being a court practice, court precedent or written legislation, the restatement is a secondary source of law when resolving legal disputes. Synonyms are “digest” and “explanation”.
