Right of tanto – in the Mexican Law, this legal term refers to a right, granted to the buyer, entitling him/her to purchase an item or service at the same price, offered by the seller to any other purchaser. The role of this right is to ensure the buyer that that the seller won’t try to benefit more from them via increasing the sale price individually because of the particular buyer, i.e. the goal here is to avoid robbing the purchaser. The term origins from the Spanish noun “tanto”, which literally means “certain amount”.
