Rule to show cause – this legal term applies in the civil proceedings, where parties lodge applications to the court for the other party to appear on a hearing for resolving a legal dispute. So the rule to show cause is the order, issued by court for asking the opposite party to state why the application should not be approved and respectively why a certain thing in the process should not be done.
