Allegation – this term refers to a non-proved statement that something has happened. The truth of this statement has yet to be tested and confirmed. For example, claims which citizens submit in the police contain allegations for committed crimes, which information has to be checked.

An opposite term is “testimony”. It represents a sworn statement during court proceedings, that certain events have occurred.
