Approbate – this term could have two different meanings:

– it means “to confirm” an action or document; to make it valid.

– Another, 2^nd meaning is to sanction someone’s wrongful or illegal activity, usually via issuing a fine or ticket to them.

Example: “The court approbated the hooligans with 100 dollars fine”.
