Bailiwick – this term is used in Litigation Procedures in some jurisdictions, where it details the practicing area of the bailiff or enforcement agent. In many countries, this area of practice covers the jurisdiction area of the local Court which has charged/sued the debtor. Bailiffs and enforcement agents are professionals, usually qualified in Law. They are authorized to remove and sell assets (for example on public auctions) in order to pay the money a debtor owes to judgment creditors (physical individuals or organizations). Part of their duties also includes seizure of assets during a pending lawsuit.
