Bar Council – This is the name of the professional association, which regulates the membership and practice of lawyers in a particular jurisdiction. It could be a governmental body or independent entity. For example, the Bar Council is the collective organization for barristers in the UK and Wales – http://www.barcouncil.org.uk/
*Note that in most countries where presented, barristers do not practice law for free. Their personal advocacy is paid. So when asking a barrister for their acceptance of service on a concrete legal issue, or to represent you in court hall, you should pay them for their opinion and legal advice/representation; it is the same as when you visit a doctor and pay for their competent diagnose and accurate medical treatment.
