Cessate – this legal term origins from Latin: literally it means to discontinue something; to stop it for temporary time; to put it on pause. In the sphere of legal representation cessate refers to a grant of representation of limited duration which has ceased and expired, so the proxy could not any longer use it to represent the authorizer. For example, a withdrawn power of attorney cannot be used by the lawyer to perform further legal actions on behalf of and on account of their client.
