Date of service

Date of service – this term finds application in the Court procedures in many jurisdictions, where it refers to the date, as detailed on the notification, on which the defendant in civil proceedings receives a copy of the claim together with its attachments and has a period to respond (and eventually to submit a counter-claim). Date of service proves to all the parties involved that the participant has received the court documents and also enables the terms for preclusion of their procedural rights to apply/start.
