Demurrer – This is a motion put to a trial judge once the claimant has completed his or her case, in which the defendant, while not objecting to the facts presented, and rather than responding by a full legal defense, asks the court to reject the petition right then and there because of a lack of basis in law or insufficiency of the evidence. Usually the local Civil Code in the concrete country stipulates short deadlines for performance of such activities by the defendant, in order to speed up the standard civil process, which unfortunately in some countries may take years for reaching court decision.
