House counsel – In many countries this term refers to the legal figure of a solicitor who is not a member of the Lawyers Bar and who works on a full time for a particular local corporate body only, for a salary. A house counsel is not a bona fide lawyer and can not work independent to represent other clients – for example, because not a registered lawyer and without a lawyer’s insurance and a business office.
