Naked authority

Naked authority – in the sphere of letters of authorization, this term details a legal authority which has been given to third party-a proxy, by the authorizer solely for their benefit and can be revoked on their sole incretion. The authorized proxy does not have any consideration or any legal right to keep the initially given authorization. The naked authority exists in most types of letters of authorization. When a case is related to authorizing a lawyer to perform certain legal actions on behalf of the authorizer, then the letter of authorization is specific one and called “power of attorney”. It consists of various rights, depending of the concrete legal system.
