Litigant in person – this term details the figure of a person who is a party to a lawsuit and who starts or defends a case in person, i.e. without using the legal representation of a bona-fide lawyer. In most legal systems it is possible to be litigant in person, but note it is always advisable at least to consult with a practicing independent civil lawyer on your legal issue, because civil lawyers are able to consult you – they have the knowledge, practice and recourses to perform civil representation on litigation procedures.
