Protection money

Protection money – this legal term has two alternative meanings, depending of its application:

– In the area of Tenancy Law, it details a guarantee given by the tenant to the property owner, with the role to compensate if there are eventual damages done to the rented out premises;

– in the area of Criminal Law the protection money represent the sum paid for release of arrested person until the court proclaims their sentence or decision about the guilt.
