Proxy

Proxy – instead of the standard meaning as intermediary or a surrogate, this legal term could have two different meanings:

– it could refer to a right which is signed-over to an agent. Proxies are used frequently at annual meetings of corporations where the right to exercise a vote is “proxied” from the shareholder to the agent.

– in the sphere of Authorizations, the proxy could detail the figure of a person, appointed or authorized to perform legal activities on behalf of the authorizer. For example, a lawyer who has been hired by the client via proxy statement, to cast their vote on annual or general meetings, performs proxy solicitation. Or a lawyer, hired to perform a conveyance procedure and sign the new Title Deed on behalf of the purchaser.
