Public delict – in the area of Criminal Law, this legal term refers to wrongful action which has harmed governmental or municipality interests. Respectively the offender receives punishment or sentence by the whole community or nation, and should pay compensation to them. The opposite term is “private delict”, which refers to wrongful action affected only certain private individual, who seeks remedy and punishment on his/her behalf for the offender.
