Remote damages – this legal term applies in the sphere of Tort Law. There it refers to injuries or loses (material or non-material) which have occurred but which are not direct or straight outcome from the caused tort. Some jurisdictions consider it and respectively award monetary compensation for it. For example in practice, you got injured, you lose your job, you change several jobs without success and slowly (in a term of 5 years) you got bankrupted. The outcome after 5 years is a remote damage. The origin of the term is the word “remote”, which literally means “far, not close, distance (in time for example)”. Somewhere called “late damages”.
