Remuneration

Remuneration – this legal term has several different meanings, depending of where it has got application:

– within the area of Tort Law it means monetary (financial) compensation, awarded by court on damage claims. Most legal systems accept a remuneration to be pretended, calculated and respectively awarded only in money. Synonyms are “reimbursement” and “reward”.

– in the Law of Contracts it refers a commission fee for performed obligations. For example if you build a house for the assignor, then the remuneration is your fee for constructing it.

– within the Labor Law it refers to the salary, agreed between the employer and the employee. This is the monthly, weekly or daily price for the labor work performed by the employee. Synonym is “pay” and “wage”.
