Requital

Requital – in practice, this legal term usually applies in the Litigation Procedures, where normally refers to a remuneration or compensation, pursued via claim for damages. The requital is valued in money in most legal systems. The goal is to compensate for the wrongdoing which has harmed the rights of the claimant, and to restore their position as if before the damages occurred. Different legal systems consider the requital in different views – somewhere it can be only compensation for the actual damages occurred and not more. In other jurisdictions it could have also the role of a sanction towards the wrongdoer so they should not do it again. Second meaning of requital is “revenge”. A synonym here is “vengeance”.
