Resentence – this term applies in the sphere of Criminal law in some jurisdictions. There it details the act of issuing new sentence by the first instance court, in situations where the initial sentence has been blocked or removed by the higher court. For example, in practice it happens in cases where the sentence has been appealed.  In such case the court has to issue new judgment.
