Casus foederis

Casus foederis – this legal term comes from Latin. It has two different meanings:

– In the area of Military Law, it details a treaty, forwarded by one nation towards another. Here a synonym is “casus bellli”. For example, one country threats another with war actions.

– In the area of Law of Contracts, it details a legal event, occurring in accordance with the terms and conditions of a concluded agreement. For example, a property sale occurring as a result of signed preliminary contract between the buyer and the vendor.
