Robbery

Robbery – this is a term applicable within the Criminal Law, where details a type of theft – i.e. a larceny, resulting in taking of someone’s property without their consent, with the intention to benefit oneself. The difference between theft and robbery is that the second crime is usually performed via applying physical force, or with weapon (otherwise the robber would not be able to accomplish their crime). Robbery is one of the most common crimes in practice, and is strictly punished by the Law, where depending of the amount of the stolen item the court determines the fair jail sentence (or alternatively, fine/ticket for robberies of cheap items). Synonyms for example are ““mugging”, “robbery” and “peculation”.
