Root of title

Root of title – in the area of Property Law, this term refers to a document which shows that a person owns a real estate, although this may not be registered in the Land Register. In other words, the root of title could be direct or indirect proof of ownership for immovable property. Lawyers in their practice use the roots of title during their legal investigation where to establish whether a person is the legal owner of real estate or not.
