Safe conduct

Safe conduct – this legal term finds application in Military Law, where refers to official document, granting a member of the enemy state protection for passing through own lands. Persons, who held safe conduct letter for themselves, should not be afraid of violation or miserable treatment in enemy state. In some countries safe conduct passport was given to travelers to pass peacefully through their territory and to receive hospitality from its citizens in places, called “safe haven”. For example, writers in the Oriental kingdoms had such safe conduct letters or decrees.
