Saving to suitors clause

“Saving to suitors” clause – this legal term finds application in the Maritime Law. Saving to suitors clause refer to the right, applicable in the United States and given to claimants to lodge their civil claims and initiate a trial at state court of law, rather than in federal court. Claimants who pursue a remedy arising from tort, use this rule.  But mostly it applies to common law compensations.
