Entitlement

Entitlement – this term details a special and exclusive legal advantage or right such as a benefit, exemption, power or immunity. An example would be the special privileges that some persons have in a bankruptcy to recoup their debts from the bankrupt’s estate before other, non-privileged creditors. Another example of the privilege is the relation between a lawyer and their client, made in a situation and place of privacy. The goal of the privilege is to enable people to speak with professionals and to seek help even if their statement would lead to a criminal conviction in other cases. Synonyms are “prerogative” and “privilege”.
