Rentier country

Rentier country – in practice, this legal term details a country, which receives income and resources mainly from external sources outside its territory. Such country is so rich, and it does not oblige its citizens with many tax liabilities, fines and charges. Many developed countries which pump petrol/oil in the Middle East are example of such rentier country. Countries which have many financial instruments, or which lease their resources to foreign clients could also be an example of a rentier country. The origin of the this term is the word “rent”, which details the legal relations about payingfinancial (monetary) considerationby a tenant to a landlord in exchange for the use and enjoyment of land, a building or a part of a building (called “a rental unit”).
